What is MIPS?

MIPS stands for Merit-Based Incentive Payment System. It is Medicare’s new physician reimbursement program, set to begin in 2017. It will replace PQRS and Meaningful Use. Mingle Analytics has launched the MUSE™ Collaborative to help healthcare providers thrive in the new environment of payment reform and MIPS.

What is PQRS?

PQRS stands for Physician Quality Reporting System. It is a program administered by the Center for Medicare & Medicaid Services. (CMS)

How does PQRS measure quality?

Quality is reported as a fraction. The denominator is the number of patients eligible for the measure. The numerator indicates how many patients have the quality action performed for the measure.

How do I know which measures I am eligible to report?

Eligibility to report is based on several factors, including CPT and ICD codes, age and gender. The specifications for each measure detail which patients can be included in the measure. You can find the specifications that detail each measure and measure group on the CMS website under the downloads section. Or Register with us to use the Measure Advisor™ for a high-level view of measures by specialty, or a detailed view by sending us data and using the Measure Analyzer™.
